RV generator repair and service

Generators that sit all summer often give trouble in the fall. Old fuel gums up, batteries run down, and a generator that ran fine in April won't fire in October. A mobile tech can troubleshoot it in place.

Common problems
- Cranks but won't start
- Starts, then shuts off after a few seconds
- Surging, hunting or uneven power
- No power reaching the coach even though it runs
- Smoke, odd smells or new noises
- Due for routine service and you'd rather not drive anywhere
Things to check before you send a request
- Check the oil level. Many RV generators shut off on low oil.
- In a motorhome, check the fuel gauge. Many are set up so the generator stops when the main tank gets near a quarter full.
- Make sure the house batteries are charged. A weak battery can crank slowly and fail to start the generator.
- Look for a tripped breaker on the generator itself.
Tell us the make and model of the generator if you know it, and how long it sat. That helps the tech show up with the right parts.
What happens next
- Tell us what's wrong. Fill out the short form with the problem, your RV and where it's parked.
- We pass it on. Your request goes to the independent local mobile RV repair business we work with.
- They contact you. They ask questions, set a time and quote the job. You decide whether to hire them.
- The tech comes to your RV. You pay the repair business directly for the work you approve.
