RV slide-out repair

A slide that won't come in is a big problem when you're due to leave. Most slide trouble comes down to power, the motor or pump, the mechanism, or the seals. Some of it can be fixed at your site.

Common problems
- Slide won't extend or retract
- Moves crooked, binds or makes grinding noises
- Moves partway and stops
- Seals torn, flattened or letting in dust and water
- Hydraulic fluid leak
- Slide topper awning torn or not rolling
Things to check before you send a request
- Check battery voltage. Many slides won't move on weak batteries, even when plugged in.
- Look for anything blocking the slide inside or out, like a rug, a cabinet door or a tree branch.
- Check fuses and breakers for the slide circuit.
- Don't force it. Pushing or pulling a stuck slide can bend parts and turn a small repair into a big one.
If the slide is stuck out and you have to move soon, say so in your request. Many slides have a manual override, and a tech can walk through it or bring it in for you.
